A brief guide to the many guests at The Grand Budapest Hotel

Wes Anderson's latest stars Ralph Fiennes, Billy Murray, Jason Schwartzman and more
Wes Anderson's latest film, The Grand Budapest Hotel, is 'perfectly realised caper' set in a continental hotel between the wars (at least, that's what our reviewer thought). The hotel setting provides Anderson with an ideal venue for showcasing the talents of his typically star-studded cast, including several you may recgonise from previous Anderson projects. Feel free to familiarise yourself with the guests and hotel staff in our handy check-in register below.

Name: Monsieur Gustave
Actor: Ralph Fiennes
Hairstyle: The barest crest of a well-trimmed quiff, with a modest moustache to match.
Wes Anderson CV: This is their first time working together.
Name: Mr Moustafa
Actor: F Murray Abraham
Hairstyle: A sort of bouffant/beard all-in-one hairy halo.
Wes Anderson CV: Another newbie.
Name: Serge
Actor: Mathieu Almaric
Hairstyle: Extremely slicked, with a ratty Clarke Gable moustache.
Wes Anderson CV: Yet another first-timer. It's a wonder we included this category at all...
Name: Dmitri
Actor: Adrien Brody
Hairstyle: Rampantly untamed above the scalp, seductively curled above the lip.
Wes Anderson CV: At last! Aside from his leading role in The Darjeeling Limited, he also voiced a field mouse in Fantastic Mr Fox.

Name: Jopling
Actor: Willem Dafoe
Hairstyle: Reasonably businesslike, facial hair forgone in favour of moody underlighting.
Wes Anderson CV: Klaus Daimler in The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou; Rat in Fantastic Mr Fox.
Name: Kovacs
Actor: Jeff Goldblum
Hairstyle: Slick side-parting + subtly pointed goatee + Sigmundian spectacles = probable psychoanalyst.
Wes Anderson CV: Alistair Hennessey in The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou.
Name: Ludwig
Actor: Harvey Keitel

Wes Anderson CV: Commander Pierce in Moonrise Kingdom.
Name: Young Writer (probably not his real name)
Actor: Jude Law
Hairstyle: Receeding wisp of a quiff with faint moustache.
Wes Anderson CV: Perhaps surprisingly, this is his first, although his roles in A Series of Unfortunate Events and I Heart Huckabees suggest he's a good fit for Anderson's sensibilities.

Name: Monsieur Ivan
Actor: Bill Murray
Hairstyle: An exuberantly Teutonic moustache, with a much less ostentatious grey topping.
Wes Anderson CV: Well, now we're getting into it: Herman Blume in Rushmore, Raleigh St Clair in The Royal Tenenbaums, Steve Zissou in The Life Aquatic, The Businessman in Darjeeling, Badger in Fantastic Mr Fox, Mr Bishop in Moonrise. That's pretty much all of Anderson's films except for Bottle Rocket.
Name: Henckels
Actor: Edward Norton
Hairstyle: That luscious side-sweep and flexed moustache bear the mark of a stylish German soldier to us. The army uniform doesn't hurt either.
Wes Anderson CV: Scout Master Ward in Moonrise Kingdom.
Name: Agatha
Actor: Saoirse Ronan (for the last time, it's pronounced seer-shuh).
Hairstyle: What looks to be a tight German braid. No moustache.
Wes Anderson CV: Another Anderson debut.
Name: Monsieur Jean
Actor: Jason Schwartzman
Hairstyle: A windswept side-flick, a demure moustache and a cocked eyebrow suggests a man who's got it going on. Or at least, thinks he does.
Wes Anderson CV: Like Murray, this guy's a recurring Andersonian muse: Max Fischer in Rushmore, Jack in The Darjeeling Limited, Ash in Fantastic Mr Fox, Cousin Ben in Moonrise Kingdom, plus starred in Anderson's Prada-sponsored short film 'Castello Cavalcanti'.

Name: Clotilde
Actor: Lea Seydoux
Hairstyle: A well-set 1920s wave, discreetly located beneath a maid's cap.
Wes Anderson CV: Starred in Anderson's other Prada-sponsored short film/ad series, 'Candy'.
Name: Madame D
Actor: Tilda Swinton. Yeah, we can't believe it either.
Hairstyle: A towering grey beehive capable of blocking the sun.
Wes Anderson CV: Social Services in Moonrise Kingdom.
Name: Author (another pseudonym, we'll wager)
Actor: Tom Wilkinson
Hairstyle: Dignified: greying at the temples, bushy of moustache.
Wes Anderson CV: Zero, but he does have previous experience in hotel-related work.
Name: Monsieur Chuck
Actor: Owen Wilson
Hairstyle: Slicked back, slightly drooping moustache.
Wes Anderson CV: The only member of the assembled throng to have appeared in Anderson's (and his own) debut, Bottle Rocket. He was also Eli Cash in The Royal Tenenbaums, Ned Plimpton in The Life Aquatic, Francis in The Darjeeling Limited and Coach Skip in Fantastic Mr Fox.

Name: Zero
Actor: Tony Revolori
Hairstyle: Struggling to break free of his Lobby Boy hat (in a style that suggests a similarity to Monsieur Jean).
Wes Anderson CV: A relative newbie, but you could argue he's taking on the traditional Andersonian role of 'precocious and/or adventurous youngster' (a la Jared Gilman's Sam in Moonrise Kingdom, or Jason Schwartzman's Ash in Fantastic Mr Fox).
The Grand Budapest Hotel is on general release from Fri 7 Mar.
