A guide to New Year's Eve club nights in Glasgow

From Sub Club to Nice N Sleazy, the best parties to see in the New Year in Glasgow

It's common knowledge that the right way to start off a new year is by throwing your best shapes, surrounded by friends and awesome music. If you're still deciding on your New Year's Eve plans, we've got a few suggestions.

Stereo (22–28 Renfield Ln) will be hosting the ultimate hip-hop/RnB party, bringing Push It and Too NICE together for a night of fun. As part of the same event, the Handpicked Cassette Tapes label will transform The Old Hairdressers across the road into a 'multi-sensory sweatbox' with live visuals and installations, putting some of their finest producers and DJs behind the decks.

Put on your best 70s get up and head to Hogmanay at Drygate (85 Drygate) for a funk feast courtesy of Federation of the Disco Pimp, Shaka Loves You and The Flying Funk Master. Expect lots of soul, disco, funk and excellent live performances as well as a photo booth, a light show, dancers and a Soul Train dance off.

Over at Hillhead Bookclub (17 Vinicombe St), catch Frogbeats collective DJ Sombadi with Glasgow's own Hush, who will provide the tunes from 8pm to 1am. At SWG3, you'll find a double dose of Hogmanay fun with Colours Classic NYE in the Warehouse and the Hogmanay Warehouse Party in the TV studio. Colours Classic will feature 21 years of dance floor classics, with DJs including Tall Paul, Jeremy Healy and Fergie playing classic sets. At the Warehouse Party, expect dance anthems from the likes of Darren Styles, Mallorca Lee and Scott Brown.

Gerd Janson, Jackmaster and Harri & Dominic will be taking over Sub Club (22 Jamaica St) for Subculture NYE from 10pm to 4am, while at Broadcast (427 Sauchiehall St), On The House & Broken Disco NYE will feature Adesse Versions headlining an excellent bill of selectors.

La Cheetah Club's (73 Queen St) NYE 2016 party will see Chicago's Rahaan and Swiss DJ Sassy J taking control of the club's upstairs area while Spencer (Numbers) and Randomer take residence downstairs. At The Berkeley Suite (237 North St), ring in the bells with Glasgow favourites Rex the Dog, The Revenge and OOFT!, who will be joined by residents The Yellow Door, Lunacy and Loose Joints.

A Nice N Sleazy Hogmanay at Nice N Sleazy (421 Sauchiehall St) will be a celebration of the best disco, funk, pop, indie and more out there thanks to DJs Beans and Divine. You'll even be able to order burritos from the kitchen and mulled buckfast from the bar. NYE at The Art School (20 Scott St) will be an all-star party powered by Jon Hopkins, Nathan Fake, Barker and N>E>D in the main room and Nightwave, Konx-om-Pax, Bossy Love and Sofay in the Vic Bar.
