A guide to New Year's Eve club nights in London

Best dancefloors from Shoreditch to Brixton to get sweaty and hear the bells ring
If you're the kind of person that enjoys the hustle and bustle of big city life, London is the perfect place to spend New Year's Eve. With so many different club nights, warehouse parties and events taking place, you're likely to be spoilt for choice when making post-midnight plans. But fear not because we've chosen our favourite NYE club picks to help you start the year off in the best possible way.
Shoreditch
Over in East London, Shoreditch has plenty going on to celebrate the arrival of 2017. At The Book Club (100-106 Leonard St, wearetbc.com), an NYE Afro Disco awaits you courtesy of headliners Alexander Nut (Eglo Records), Mina (Enchufada), Onyeara (Gin & Juice) and the Sounddhism crew. Expect a big mix of reggae, garage, hip-hop, house and disco, all complemented by lots and lots of dancing. If you're planning on partying till the wee hours, head over to Basing House (25 Kingsland Road, basinghouse.co.uk), where B4: NYE will see Artikal, Amber Shells and friends entertain crowds till 6am. At Krankbrother Present NYE at the Village Underground (54 Holywell Lane, villageunderground.co.uk), you'll be treated to an extended three-hour set by Joy Orbison, with Jon Rust taking on warm up duties for the night. Over at XOYO, German DJ and producer DJ Koze will headline NYE, with support from fellow Pampa Records artists Lawrence & Die Vögel and a special guest performance from Peggy Gou. If RnB and hip-hop are more your thing, The Macbeth (70 Hoxton St, themacbeth.co.uk) have got you covered with their Flawless: NYE Beyoncé Party. Dance till 5am to your favourites including Queen B herself, TLC, Ciara, Kanye West and more.
Hackney
In the wider Hackney area, expect to find even more club nights with fantastic line-ups. Close to London Fields Overground Station, The Brewhouse (369-370 Helmsley Place) will host Bugged Out NYE, a party that will see the likes of Erol Alkan, Andrew Weatherall and Lemmy Ashton take to the decks in a 500 capacity venue. Café Oto's NYE Party (18-22 Ashwin St) will feature a special DJ set from experimental composer and producer Mica Levi while just down the road at The Nest (36 Stoke Newington Rd), Horse Meat Disco will be overseeing DJ duties for the night. Oval Space Music X Percolate Present NYE will be a double venue party at Oval Space and The Pickle Factory in Bethnal Green (29–32 The Oval & 13–14 The Oval), with an all-star line-up including Bicep, Floating Points, Levon Vincent and Midland. And there'll be no need to look for an after party because one has already been planned. Jane Fitz, Saoirse and friends will take you into New Year's Day from 6am till 7pm at The Pickle Factory. Branded as a 'disco for punks' The Cave Club NYE at Moth Club (Old Trades Hall, Valette St) is the place to be if you want to hear Bowie, Eno and Iggy on the last day of 2016. DJs Spider Webb (of The Horrors) and Telegram Sam will keep you entertained from 8pm onwards.
Brixton
South of the River in Brixton, Up on the Roof NYE 2016 is back after two sell-out years. This time around, Norman Jay MBE will be spinning an extended four-hour midnight set at The Prince of Wales (467–469 Brixton Rd), with support from Colin Dale, Rob Alldritt and Richie Cox. Elsewhere in Brixton, Disciples & Together will present The Following on NYE at Electric Brixton (Town Hall Parade, electricbrixton.uk.com), with duo CamelPhat, DJ SKT, KDA plus a special b2b performance from Shadow Child and Friend Within. At Phonox (418 Brixton Rd), Julio Bashmore will take the reins along with Saturday resident HAAi from 10pm onwards. Be treated to the icon that is Fatman Scoop at Big Apple (Pope's Rd) with festive cocktails, street food and multiple bars keeping you fed and watered all night. The New Year's Eve Big Pop Circus at Pop Brixton (49 Brixton Station Rd, popbrixton.org) is a great option for something a little different. There'll be circus performers, candy floss, funk and soul DJs and much more as you're transported to the sparkling world of the circus.
Southwark
A little bit further north in Elephant and Castle, Moondance and United have joined forces to bring you Love Rave NYE 2016, featuring over 80 artists and multi-genre arenas from UK garage to jungle and house. Taking place in the Coronet Theatre (28 New Kent Rd), you'll be able to catch DJs and MCs like Demolition Man, Hatcha, Doc Scott & Storm and Danny Byrd. Two minutes down the road at Corsica Studios (4/5 Elephant Rd), Electric Minds: New Year's Eve will play host to Move D, Mr. Ties, Dolan Bergin and Hesseltime to wave off London-based party and record label Electric Minds after its 10 year-run. Just a short walk away from Corsica, Ministry of Sound (103 Gaunt Street) will be putting on their legendary Defected party, with a huge line-up headlined by Basement Jaxx and featuring Sonny Fodera, Franky Rizardo, Simon Dunmore, Man Without A Clue, Gene Farris and Luke Solomon. At Byday Bynight NYE at Omeara (6 O'Meara St), you'll find Medlar, Red Rack'em and more until 6am while at the Great Suffolk Street Warehouse (29 Great Suffolk St), Regression Session NYE: Let's Get Weird will provide you with a massive party as well as special guests Marshall Jefferson, Raf Daddy and Dungeon Meat.
