Adelaide Fringe announce Sleep Hill Tunnel immersive experience for 2024

The Adelaide Fringe has unveiled a new immersive experience in the historic Sleep Hill Tunnel, which will run throughout the Fringe from Tuesday 16 February to Sunday 17 March.

The historic rail tunnel will house a 350-metre long journey of light projections that chronicles the tunnel’s evolution from a steam train passageway to a mushroom farm. Developed by videographer and photographer Stephen Axford, the installation blends art and science to create a unique look at fungi.

Director and CEO of Adelaide Fringe, Heather Croall said, ‘It’s so exciting to see such an innovative project premiere in the Mitcham area at Fringe time. The Sleep’s Hill Tunnel show fuses history, art and technology in the most stunning way, it will be a memorable immersive experience for everyone… especially for those who are fans of tunnels, trains or mushrooms, which I think is almost everyone! This is one of many hundreds of magical shows happening in the suburbs at Fringe 2024; we love seeing so many hidden, unique stories in our local neighbourhoods come to life across the whole State for Fringe and Sleeps Hill Tunnel is going to be one that people will not want to miss.’

The Sleep Hill Tunnel experience will sit beside a wealth of other events taking place at the Adelaide Fringe, including drag, cabaret, comedy, talks, drama and music. Find the full programme on the Adelaide Fringe’s official site.

Adelaide Fringe will take place from Thursday 16 February until Sunday 17 March. Tickets for all announced events are on sale now. The List’s Adelaide Summer Festival Guide will be available at select stockists across the CBD and Adelaide Airport from Friday 19 January.
