Guilt, Glenda Jackson and Outlander are rewarded on the night

Last night, in a special digital ceremony hosted by Edith Bowman, the British Academy of Film and Television Arts in Scotland announced the winners of their annual awards celebrating the best of film, games and television produced over the past year in Scotland.

With the awards committee choosing to forgo the feature film and film performance categories this year, due to changes in eligibility and the impact of cinema closures, the spotlight was largely on games and TV. Sanjeev Kohli joined Bowman in person, alongside a number of guest presenters, while Jack Lowden, Bill Paterson, Brian Cox and Lorraine Kelly were amongst those helping to announce the winners remotely.

The most acknowledged programme going into the ceremony, Guilt (with six nominations), bagged two awards in the end, for Television Scripted and Director Fiction, while the similarly fancied Elizabeth is Missing (nominated for five) scored just one for Glenda Jackson, who won Actress Television. Ken Loach's regular screenwriter Paul Laverty picked up the Writer Film/Television prize for his work on the director's Sorry We Missed You.

While Outlander won the inaugural Audience Award, rising star Ncuti Gatwa won Actor Television for his performance in popular Netflix series Sex Education. The comic actor and entertainer Stanley Baxter was the recipient of Outstanding Contribution to Film and Television – receiving tributes from Billy Connolly and Alan Cumming – and editor Phyliss Ironside received the Outstanding Contribution to Craft (In Memory of Robert McCann).

A highlights programme from BBC Scotland is available to watch now on BBC iPlayer.
