The comedy album is a time-old tradition, once the most common way for the average punter to enjoy stand-up, now a curio that piques interest whenever someone releases a new one. Amy Matthews is the latest comic to give it a zhuzh-up on Commute With The Foxes, a revised version of her latest show which combines ‘ASMR, sound art, immersive experience, storytelling, lyrical essay, prose poetry, guided meditation and podcasting.’

Matthews, who also presents the English Heritage Podcast, said: ‘It is an aural grand tour across land and time, where my voice guides the listener through the perils and joys of distraction.’  The album also includes bonus content, including three tracks from sound artists, including Matthews’ father who, like Matthews herself, has synaesthesia. It’ll be available on record or MP3.

We gave Commute With The Foxes four stars at 2024’s Edinburgh Fringe, writing: ‘It’s wonderfully put together and delivered with a quiet confidence, including an incredibly simple but effective sound cue that hammers home her message. Matthews’ comedic sensibilities are finely honed and not a beat is missed. This is an incredibly insightful take on life today as a woman in her late 20s yet does manage to pause in places and take in the poetry.’ Read the full review
