‘Mr Burgundy, we would be honoured if you will play some “yazz” flute for us one more time.’

That’s right, Ron Burgundy is due to hit our screens once more. Will Ferrell appeared in character as the moustachioed, suited and booted newsman on US talk show Conan O’Brien last night to announce that he and Paramount had come to an agreement for the sequel to cult comedy Anchorman.

No word yet on a script or release date but a huge step towards the day fans have been waiting for. Fellow stars Paul Rudd and Steve Carrell have been the first to confirm, and the rest of the original cast – which includes Christina Applegate and Vince Vaughn – are expected to follow suit.
