A devised circus performance for young children, this fun physical show is at its best when the trio of performers from Australia's Head First Acrobats troupe are in motion around the stage, using their piratical theme to jump off into an array of dynamic and eye-catching set pieces. They flip and somersault, using each other's hands and a seesaw for purchase, and spin around the floor on a giant hula hoop. It's all dazzlingly eye-catching, particularly for young children of all sizes (the recommended age is three and older), but the gravity-defying tricks with a spinning diablo are particularly uncanny.

The only issue to raise would be the fact that levels of piratical drama are kept to a minimum in favour of neat tricks, one scene where the trio bicker over which one is captain aside. It's interesting to note that the show doesn't have a director, and that it's been devised among the cast; all three are capable comedy performers, so perhaps a more ambitious script might add weight to the show and put some meat on its bones?

Not that the children will mind Arr We There Yet? being essentially a family circus show with added costumes. It's energetic and it grabs and holds the attention while the performers are in motion, and as much as parents outside afterwards seem to be offering equivocal reviews, the kids leave smiling and ready to try and recreate mini versions of the stunts they've witnessed.
