It’s actually quite difficult to choose just one place in Glasgow as a favourite to wet one’s whistle. The State Bar on Holland Street, just off Sauchiehall Street, springs to mind if you love a cosy atmosphere and old tales. It has the most amazing vintage photographs and posters on the walls and is steeped in so much history, with its famous horseshoe bar, gorgeous stained-glass windows, an old-fashioned fireplace and a framed map of the city on the ceiling. It also has live music and stand-up comedy. If you like cask ales or whiskies, this is the place for you. They do a good Guinness too, just saying!
