Think festivals aren’t the right place for kids? Think again. Several of Scotland’s best boutique festivals are welcoming kids and families in their droves. Here, we pick out five of the best for 2015.

Solas
Enjoying a range of family and kids-only activities, and fitted out with its own parent and baby room, Solas festival incorporates performing arts, literature and music. 2015’s musical acts include the Vaselines, Honeyblood, hip hoppers Hector Bizerk and Indian singer / composer Raghu Dixit.

Kelburn Garden Party
Set in a forested country park near the west coast, Kelburn’s headlined this year by Nightmares On Wax with capable support from Gentleman’s Dub Club, Optimo, Rozi Plain and Hector Bizerk. Its child-friendly elements include a wooded maze, a play fort and some grazing animals, as well as many curated activities.

Wickerman
One of the larger festivals on this list which is still kid-friendly, Wickerman is set on a farm in Dumfries and Galloway that offers a family quiet camping area and kids’ areas within the festival – but note that some parts are adults only. This year’s typically eclectic music mix includes The Waterboys, Tom Odell, Squeeze, Errors and Lulu, as well as the late evening Wickerman burning which finishes the event.

Belladrum Tartan Heart
A larger boutique festival with some big names at the top of the bill (Kaiser Chiefs, The Proclaimers, Honeyblood, Eddi Reader in 2015), the famously scenic Belladrum has a family campsite and children’s activities, as well as a free entry for under-12s policy.

Doune the Rabbit Hole
Free to all children under the age of 12 accompanied by an adult, and enjoying its own separate kids’ camping area, Doune the Rabbit Hole is famed for its provision for youngsters – but there’s a lot more to it than that. Expect poetry, workshops and credibly alternative music. The bill’s to be confirmed, but acts from recent years include Errors, Jeffrey Lewis, the Pastels and Clinic.
