Black Midi’s Geordie Greep announces new album, new single and UK tour dates

Geordie Greep has announced a new album, a brand new single and a swathe of UK tour dates for autumn 2024. Tickets for the shows go on sale at 10am on Thursday 22 August. Scroll to the bottom of this article for a detailed list of his UK performances.

Greep has had a busy week, first announcing that his critically acclaimed band Black Midi are on an ‘indefinite hiatus’ then launching his solo career with new single ‘Holy Holy’, a melding of Black Midi’s rock fusion chaos and a lounge singer tinge (listen to it below).

Greep’s debut solo album will be called The New Sound and is set for release on Friday 4 October on Rough Trade. Speaking of his new career and the disbanding of Black Midi, Greep said, ‘With recording The New Sound, it was the first time I have had no one to answer to. And with every impulse I had, I was able to completely follow it through to its conclusion. Being in a band we often have this “we can do everything” feeling, but you are also kind of limited in that approach, and sometimes it's good to do something else, to let go of things.’

The New Sound tracklist:

1. Blues
2. Terra
3. Holy, Holy
4. The New Sound
5. Walk Up
6. Through A War
7. Bongo Season
8. Motorbike
9. As If Waltz
10. The Magician
11. If You Are But A Dream
