Bok Bok, Night Slugs and Lil Silva set for Numbers 7th birthday

Who?
I’m not even going to dignify that with a response.
No really, who?
OK, you must have been in a coma. Numbers are a group of Glaswegian promoters, label bosses, DJs and producers who have been largely responsible for positioning Scotland at the absolute bleeding edge of electronic party music over the past few years.
Few years? I heard this is their seventh birthday.
It is. They’ve built their reputation steadily, moving from basement shows beneath the Brunswick Hotel to a residency at London’s Fabric and appearances at Barcelona’s Sonar festival.
Wow. How did they do that?
Hard work and attention to detail mostly, and running several labels helped. Stuff Records, Wireblock and Dress 2 Sweat have been responsible for seminal releases from Rustie, Hudson Mohawke and The Village Orchestra amongst others. They have now been amalgamated into a new label, simply called Numbers, which has been releasing tracks at a pretty impressive clip of late.
So how are they celebrating?
Numbers have developed quite a reputation on the London bass music scene, and enjoy a symbiotic relationship with various movers and shakers down there, such as Bok Bok...
Who?
Alex Bok Bok is the mastermind behind a club and label called Night Slugs. Combining a preoccupation with grime, bashment, B’more and Chicago house styles, as well as cavernous post-dubstep bass, his sound chimes pretty well with what Numbers have been up to. For the party Bok Bok will be playing back-to-back with protégé and recent Night Slugs signing Lil Silva.
Numbers 7th birthday at the Sub Club, Glasgow, Fri 2 Jul.
