This November 5th, Leeds will have a number of events on to get your gunpowder fix on Bonfire Night without the risk of injuring any people, pets or plants.
The city itself has a lot of free displays taking place, with Woodhouse Moor, East End Park and Roundhay Park including a bonfire as part of their festivities. Beyond the city centre, the Middleton, Bramley and Springhead parks will all be lighting up the sky surrounding Leeds.
In Bradford, the Extreme Stunt Show (Sat 2 Nov) featuring monster trucks and fireworks is a combination of cars and explosions that Michael Bay could only dream of.
Further south in Barnsley, the Fire and Light Spectacular (Sun 3 Nov) at Canon Hall farm will have live DJs providing the soundtrack to the evening's festivities, as well as fire eaters, a BBQ and a bar. Wentworth Castle will also be joining in the Guy Fawkes fun on Nov 5.
About a half an hour's drive away, Stockeld Park in Weatherby is hosting the Festival of Fire and Light from Fri 1–Sun 3 Nov, where you can make your own lantern and join in with the daily lantern parades through the forest at 4pm. The festival will end with the firework spectacular, which will cost a family of four £20.00 to attend.
If you are willing to travel a bit further afield, York has a number of stand out events this year. The Gunpowder Plod is a 5k run set to pyrotechnics, while the Kaboom Firework Party (Sun 3 Nov) includes lasers, 3D glasses, and one of the biggest fireworks permitted in the UK. Even if kaleidoscopic fireworks aren’t your thing, the event will also have carnival performers and plenty of fairground food.
All events take place on Tue 5 Nov unless otherwise stated. A list of UK-wide Guy Fawkes Night events is available in our listings section – set your location to find the events closest to you.
