Tenement Trail, the live music all-dayer returning for its 12th year, has announced its first line-up of artists performing across eight venues in Glasgow’s East End on Saturday 10 October.

Known for spotlighting up-and-coming Scottish artists across a range of genres, this year’s line-up boasts big names including a ten-year anniversary reunion from Tenement Trail veterans Baby Strange, and Falkirk five-piece Brògeal.

More than 45 acts have been announced in the first wave, many of which hail from Scotland. Priding itself on being a key platform for promoting and uplifting new UK musicians, many former Tenement Trail performers have since been catapulted to fame, including Lewis Capaldi, Sam Fender, Yungblud and The Last Dinner Party.

The genre-surfing first wave of acts features indie rock and dream-pop merger The Orielles; indie-funk singer Willie J Healey; indie pop singer-songwriter Pixie McCann; Glasgow-hailing grunge act Conscious Pilot; and shoegaze-infused rock outfit Cliffords. Other acts include noise rockers Makeshift Art Bar; Glasgow indie-rock singer Ewan Mckenna; Swedish ‘sodapunk’ group Sodakill; and all-female rock quintet Diva Down.

Having been part of the line-up for Tenement Trail’s launch in 2013 and returning for the fourth time, Baby Strange are back to headline the Barras Art And Design stage to mark a decade since the release of their debut record Want It Need It. Frontman Johnny Madden said: ‘The album holds a special place in our hearts, and there’s no better place to play it than the Barras! Thanks to Tenement Trail for having us and for everything they’ve done for Scottish music.

‘We’re looking forward to celebrating with everyone who’s been part of the journey, and those seeing us live for the first time. It’s going to be a really memorable night. Now, let’s see if we can remember how to play the songs…’

Fresh from the TRNSMT main stage, Brògeal have surged in popularity since they first hit Tenement Trail’s Barrowland 2 stage in 2022, making their headline return to the Barrowland stage. Festival organiser Chae Houston said: ‘Brògeal are a band we’ve been buzzing about since they came onto our radar in 2022, playing the Barras 2 at Trail that year. We gave them number one track of the year in 2024 so to have them co-headlining our music festival this year showcases exactly what Trail is about.’

The full artist line-up is yet to be announced.
