Springsteen last played a gig with his E-Street Band as part of his River tour on Saturday 25 February 2017 at Mt. Smart Stadium in Auckland, New Zealand. This has been their longest period off the road since Springsteen reunited with the band in 1999.
Speaking on SiriusXM’s E Street Radio earlier this year, Springsteen said of the tour, ‘It will have a significant amount of some recent material, and then, of course, we’ll play a lot of the music that fans have become familiar with and love to hear. It should be a balance… the show should feel contemporary, and it should also make you feel at home at the same time.’
The world tour was originally slated for 2020 in support of Springsteen’s 19th studio album Western Stars, then 2022, but the pandemic has postponed the tour until 2023. His most recent collaboration with the The E-Street Band was Letter To You, which debuted at number one in 11 countries, and marked their first time recording live together in decades.
Starting at Edinburgh’s Murrayfield Stadium on Tuesday 30 May, Bruce will then play Villa Park in Birmingham on Friday 16 June. The tour will also include two nights in London's Hyde Park as part of 2023’s BST Hyde Park concert series on Thursday 6 July and Saturday 8 July.
