Bryn Woz: Smut comedy review – Seductive, unblushing gags
Cabaret’s shameless side is given a very sexy airing from writer and performer Bryn Woznicki
A comedy to titillate your taste for seduction, until it gets serious. Writer and performer Bryn Woznicki has perfected a shameless cabaret to bring a blush to every cheek. Overt and simultaneously tasteful, Smut opens the door to the world of sex, with a woman who has tried every flavour of seduction.
Treating us to gags with an edge, in sparkling burlesque attire, Woznicki plays the indefatigable Entendre Entendre, who shares stories from her exploits. The audience have a rollicking laugh at canapés gone wrong, crucial advice for well-endowed men and cheeky requests for brave individuals in the front row.
At the cabaret’s climax, Woznicki causes us to pause, drawing the viewer into a painful rendition of heartbreak. Shrieks are quieted as the desire to be entertained clashes with the object of our amusement baring her soul, before the mood is lightened for a last laugh amid deeper musings. An ingenious solo performance, Smut deserves every bit of love.
