Burns&Beyond announces varied line-up of art, music and comedy

Celebrate Robert Burns' birthday with a line-up featuring Arab Strap, Treacherous Orchestra, Larry Dean and many more.
The flagship Edinburgh festival celebrating the legacy of Robert Burns is set to return in 2022 with an array of contemporary music, comedy and art events taking place across iconic Edinburgh venues. Spanning two weeks from Saturday 2 January, tickets for Burns&Beyond go on sale from 10am this Friday 29 October.
For the fourth edition of Burns&Beyond, organised by Unique Events, 'Love, Hope & Kindness' is the message underpinning the eclectic programme. A special, internationally renowned installation by artist Michael Pendry entitled Les Colombes will see the vast nave of Edinburgh's St Giles Cathedral be filled with origami doves from Friday 21 January to Saturday 5 February 2022. To celebrate the Scottish arrival of Les Colombes, Edinburgh locals will be invited to create their own origami doves containing a special message which will be added into the installation and displayed across schools, homes and local businesses.
At the Burns&Beyond Festival Club in George Street's Assembly Rooms, audiences will be able to experience eight nights of live music from artists including The Twilight Sad and SAY Award nominees Arab Strap and Lizzie Reid. To celebrate Burns Night itself (Tuesday 25 January) Neu! Reekie!'s This-Is-Not-A-Burns-Night Burns Night kicks off with a selection of anarchic spoken-word, live music and of course traditional scran and a dram to wash it all down. BBC broadcaster Vic Galloway will host the Rip It Up! A Celebration of Scottish Pop event where Justin Currie (Del Amitri), Norman Blake (Teenage Fanclub), Stina Tweeddale (Honeyblood), Emma Pollock (The Delgados), Kathryn Joseph, C. Duncan and the legendary Faye Fife and Eugene Reynolds (of The Rezillos) will perform renditions of their favourite Scottish pop tunes.
With support from The Gilded Balloon, there will also be plenty to laugh about on Wednesday 26 January as comedian Fred MacAulay hosts The Big Burns Comedy Night featuring Scottish comics including Larry Dean, Susie McCabe, Des Clarke and Maisie Adam. And an exclusive performance from Treacherous Orchestra will get crowds on their feet as they play their Celtic-inspired arrangements with the use of traditional Scottish instruments on Thursday 27 January.
Tickets are available from 10am on Friday 29 October at burnsandbeyond.com, where further line-up announcements will also be shared.
