Charity Couture

While many charity shops take orders from centralised offices, meaning that all the clothes that come in have to be colour-coded or prescriptively arranged, Edinburgh’s five St Columba’s Hospices have always had a bit of individual spirit. ‘I work in fashion, and when my industry friends come to visit me from London or Paris, the first place they want to go is always St Columba’s on Leith Walk,’ says stylist Beca Lipscombe, who has styled and helped to organise the Charity Couture fashion show to benefit St Columba’s. ‘Basically, the idea is to remind people that there are some amazing pieces to be found, at next to nothing, in charity shops.’ All the clothes (like the outfit above) worn by models in the show will be available to buy – at regular charity shop prices – in St Columba’s stores after the shows, too.

St Andrew’s & St George’s Church, George St, Edinburgh, Wed 11 Nov. Tickets available from any St Columba’s shop, Edinburgh.
