Charlie Caper: The Future magic review – Slick sleights of hand
Technology is at the forefront of this contemporary take on classic magic shows

Charlie Caper: The Future is a comedy-led, family friendly magic show combining traditional magic with technology, that leaves you asking one simple question: ‘How did they do that?’.
Joining Caper on stage are mechanical friends Sparky the Robot Dog, Bob the Talking Head, a flying eye and a mini-robot resembling Caper himself. Sparky and Robo-Charlie are the stand-outs with their adorable, funny personalities, but they all work with Caper to perform countless tricks that are as incredible as they are bewildering.
Caper suffers from a continuous wardrobe malfunction: no matter how hard we try to keep an eye on his bowtie, it magically disappears and reappears, turning up in a series of wacky and random places to great effect. And don’t worry, this show isn’t just about magical technology: Caper also performs lots and lots of traditional tricks involving cards, newspapers and even a shoe borrowed from a member of the crowd. All demonstrate his impressive talents as both magician and comedian in a show that’s sure to leave you amazed.
Charlie Caper: The Future continues at The Paragon at The Garden of Unearthly Delights until March 22
