Dan Tiernan: All In comedy review – The real deal
Covers themes of addiction, mental health and neurodivergence in a fresh and unique way

There are frank shows about mental health then there is Dan Tiernan’s. All In is an incredibly candid description of his struggles up to and including June 2024. Since he was 14, Tiernan has been at odds with the world. He has an addictive personality, having done more drugs than an adviser to the US presidency. He’s gay, a fact that he’s struggled to get comfortable with. Then there’s his brain, diagnosed with dyspraxia, which affects every aspect of life but especially if he goes skiing. But everything’s going to be ok because he’s come up with Le Systeme, a way of coping that came to him at last year’s Glastonbury.
Employing his now trademark intensity, Tiernan starts with his unhinged man-roars to the crowd, bellows that have increased in confidence over the years. But it’s still no real indication of how full-on it will get by the end of tonight. Tiernan’s usual off-the-wall descriptions (measuring his poppers use on a scale of crayons is a highlight) make the universal topics of his show all his own. Though thankfully, male mental health, addiction and neurodivergence are now commonly talked about at the Fringe, but given the full Dan Tiernan treatment they feel fresh and unique.
