It's no secret that Edinburgh knows good food. Scotland's capital has benefited from a complete dining renaissance in recent years – now boasting the third highest number of Michelin star restaurants in the UK, and more pop-up stalls than you can shake a triple-cooked chip at. Front of the queue is the almighty burger: standard patty and buns still exist, but they now jostle for space on menus with some serious gourmet action. So for all the burger connoisseurs out there, join us as we take a look at Deliveroo's top three Edinburgh burger joints.

BRGR

Delicious, juicy burgers coupled with hand-cut fries and creamy milkshakes make BRGR the place to go for any serious burger aficionado. Trendy, but deliberately no-frills – with these guys it's all about the food.

The American diner-style menu is concise and to the point, offering everything from basic classics, all the way through to the bold Philly cheese steak burger – complete with roast peppers, caramelised onion, smoked cheese and mustard mayo.

BRGR features more dips than you can shake a box of fries at, and if you're vegetarian they've got you covered with the halloumi and falafel burgers. Plus, if you fancy a tipple to wash it all down, you can choose from a good selection of fresh beers and wine.

The Southern

Taking their motto 'well crafted' at its word, it's evident that The Southern is a pub serious about the food they do. While they offer up wings and ribs, it's the burgers that really take centre stage here, with delicious numbers like the indulgent Ecosse – a 6oz beef patty with Toulouse sausage, brie and truffle mayo, and the fierce Chilli Death with lip-smacking jalapeños, smoked Applewood cheddar cheese and chipotle sauce. If beef isn't your thing, there are plenty of chicken and vegetarian options too, as well as a host of moreish sides.

If you fancy something to wash it all down with, then you're in the right place – being a traditional pub steeped in history, The Southern boasts more than 20 constantly rotated (and often local) draught beers among its strong wine and spirit offerings.

BURGER

As their name suggests, BURGER is straight to the point. Experimentation shines through, with truly unique offerings on show – like the Katsu burger, complete with panko-crusted chicken, and the Smokeshow, featuring homemade orange-pop BBQ sauce, bacon and pastrami.

There are a host of extra toppings and dips, and a truly indulgent selection of sides to tuck into, including buffalo hot wings and beef chilli cheese fries.

No burger joint would be complete without a fresh milkshake, and at BURGER they have gone one better – offering 'boozy milkshakes' which feature numbers like the Bourbon Banoffee, and The Matterhorn - all made with their own recipe ice-cream, blended in-house.
