Eat & Drink 365 Edinburgh, The List’s brand-new publication featuring a treasure trove of dining recommendations, launched today, and is available for free from all good stockists across the capital city.

Consisting of more than 50 ‘TipLists’ – curated lists of suggestions and recommendations across different topics, styles of cuisine and areas of each city – the new Eat & Drink 365 guides act as an evolution of The List’s former magazine, the Eating & Drinking Guide, which launched in 1994 and became an annual favourite with the general public, visitors to Edinburgh and Glasgow, and the local hospitality trade.

The resurrection of the Eating & Drinking Guide has been hotly requested from List readers since the magazine’s relaunch in 2022. This return to standalone publishing of The List’s food and drink coverage comes in an engaging new format combining the longstanding principles of comprehensive, knowledgeable and fair commentary along with handy recommendations, tips and pointers. Providing objective and broad-ranging coverage, Eat & Drink 365 will stand apart from the current trend of paid-for articles and inconsistent TripAdvisor reviews to point readers towards what’s really worth knowing about around town in Edinburgh and Glasgow.

The Edinburgh edition of Eat & Drink 365 will launch in May 2025, with a Glasgow edition planned later in the year. They’ll complement The List’s already extensive eat & drink coverage in the monthly List magazine and online, which offers year-round reviews, news, features and interviews keeping readers up-to-date with new openings, key issues and local personalities as well as keeping abreast with the best of the well-established venues.

Co-editor Donald Reid said: ‘We like to think Eat & Drink 365 can be the knowledgeable pal in town who knows the scene pretty well. We’re aiming to keep it objective, insightful, independent, up-to-date and, above all, useful and practical. We’ll try to provide answers to the eating-out questions we’re always being asked (#1: where’s somewhere good to grab a bite near the Queen’s Hall?).

‘The TipLists will be in print, but also online, because that can be helpful too. And the number? We thought that if we could assemble 365 individual tips, we’d do justice to the wealth of good eating and drinking there is in each city, allowing us to cover not just the centre but diverse neighbourhoods too, the well-known and the hidden, the best and the best of the rest. Places not just for high days and holidays but every day. After all, the choices are out there, so long as you know where to look.’

Eat & Drink 365 Edinburgh is supported by William Grant & Sons and is available as a free pick-up from all the places you normally find The List magazine. Eat & Drink 365 Glasgow is published in October.
