Eat, sleep and breathe: Twin Sister

The dream-pop quintet's guitarist Eric Cardona explains the band’s on-the-road eating habits

What time is breakfast?
Usually around 10 or 11 we are locating a Denny’s.

Tea or coffee?
Lately, it’s been coffee again. Not at Denny’s though. Too much water. One good cup a day.

Smoking or non-smoking?
Non-smoking for three of us, smoking for two.

Sweet or savoury snacks?
Sweet, sweet, sweet. I like fruit and sweets and sweet things.

What food do you miss when you tour?
Mishmosh meals that can only happen when you cook at home.

Who’s the best cook you know?
My mom, my brother’s girlfriend, [keyboardist] Dev’s mom, and [bassist] Gabe or [singer] Andrea. They have the most fun with it.

What’s on your rider?
Family-sized hummus, baguette, fruit, vegetables, nice cheese, gummy bears, and whiskey.

Which country/ city has the best food?
Sheesh, that’s a hard one. I’d say San Francisco. Japan Town especially.

Do you eat out a lot?
Every day, not counting the rare but very magical meals that happen at a venue. In Big Sur this woman made us the most incredible meal, and not just by tour standards. There were figs and goat cheese on a homemade pizza. Asparagus. Kale. Perfect gazpacho. I’m getting really hungry telling you about this.

Do you drink onstage?
Sometimes I’ll have a little liquor on stage, the rest of the guys will have a beer. Sometimes we all do a shot on stage. Tour has eliminated beer from my life, I’m enjoying it.

Captain’s Rest, Glasgow, Wed 9 Nov; Sneaky Petes, Edinburgh, Thu 10 Nov. Their debut album, In Heaven, is out now on Domino.
