Edinburgh's Meadowbank Stadium to host farewell firework display, find out how to get tickets

Flagship stadium, built for the 1970 Commonwealth Games, is to be redeveloped and will close its doors in December
Edinburgh's Meadowbank Stadium is to stage a farewell Fireworks Concert on bonfire night, with tickets on sale Mon 18 Oct at 9am.
The Sun 5 Nov event will serve to light up the Edinburgh skies, and say goodbye to a venue that's played a big part in Edinburgh's recent history.
It was built for the 1970 Commonwealth Games, hosting the event again in 1984 and in the process becoming the first venue to host the games twice.
As a concert venue it's hosted acts like Radiohead, Pixies, Simple Minds, Foo Fighters and Snow Patrol, and had tenants in Meadowbank Thistle and Edinburgh Rugby over its near 50 year lifespan.
The venue is to be redeveloped after closing on Sun 3 Dec, with a brand new state-of-the-art sports venue built on the site of the old stadium.
Before then, a spectacular Fireworks concert will give it the send-off it deserves. Produced by the award winning 21CC group, the display will have a science fiction theme. It's sure to be a special night.
The Meadowbank Annual Firework Display 2017 takes place on Sun 5 Nov. Tickets go on sale on Mon 18 Sep at 9am.
