Enduring 2000s gloom-mongers Editors have detailed plans for a new album and a handful of UK tour dates for January 2023. Tickets for the shows go on sale at 10am on Friday 10 June. 

The band’s seventh studio album EBM, the follow-up to 2018’s Violence, is set for release on Friday 23 September via Play It Again Sam records.

This will also be the first album to feature new bandmember Benjamin John Power, best known for the electronic solo project Blanck Mass and drone band Fuck Buttons. 

Power said of the new album, ‘There is a strong physicality to this record. EBM started its life with the intention of connecting with people and filling a very physical space. There is also however an emotional physicality running throughout; An urgency and a sense of panic. An unease. Even in its more tender moments there is a yearning for connection.’

The new album title is partly an acronym of Editors and Blanck Mass, confirming Power as an instrumental ingredient in the latest album's song-writing process, as well implying an affinity with the electronic body music which has influenced the new material. 

The band will also embark on a handful of UK tour dates in support of the album. Starting at Nottingham’s Rock City on Wednesday 25 January, the band will then hit Manchester, Glasgow, Dublin, and London, before a final show at Bristol’s Marble Factory on Thursday 2 February.
