Mother's Day has crept up on us once again – a chance for mums all across the country to sit back, relax and indulge in a delicious meal prepared by their darling children. But if you're not much of a cook and your mum knows it, fear not; with specially curated Mother's Day menus in various spots around town, it can be a treat for the both of you. Here's eight dining ideas for across Edinburgh and Glasgow to suit even the fussiest of mums.

Edinburgh

Cucina
Cucina know that every mum's different, so they've prepared two options. For £35 per person, they offer a three course lunch, including a glass of Prosecco, and they even throw in a gift for your mama. Alternatively, for £22.50 their afternoon tea spread includes gourmet sandwiches, sweets including orange curd macarons and Tanqueray Negroni jelly, and scones with clotted cream and jam.

Red Bus Bistro
Tour the historic streets of Edinburgh on a vintage bus that's kitted out with a coffee machine and kitchen so it can serve afternoon tea on the move. Tuck into sandwiches, pastries, cake, scones, tea, coffee or Prosecco while soaking up the city's culture. On a normal day, the 1966 Routemaster bus also offers burger tours.

The Pompadour by Galvin
With stunning views of the castle, The Waldorf's Pompadour is for the fancier mums. They've put together a three course lunch menu at £49 per person and a five course menu gourmand at £65 per person, with a glass of Champagne for the mothers. Dishes include seared fois gras and confit duck leg and although it's at the top end of the budget, you'll be in the good books for weeks to come.

The Butchershop Bar & Grill
For a meat feast, head to Sauchiehall Street where The Butchershop have tweaked their Sunday roast menu especially for Mother's Day. As well as their signature roast sirloin of beef, they've added a 35 day, dry-aged, Borders reared chateaubriand for sharing. Veggie options are also available. £25 per person.

The Honours
For a posh lunch with music, take mum to The Honours, set up by renowned Scottish Chef Martin Wishart in 2014. After canapes, sit down to a three course lunch with coffee and petit fours for £35 per person. The Glasgow based William Jazz Quartet provide the soundtrack for the afternoon.
