El-P

There’s no shortage of leftfield hip hop deviants throwing down the gauntlet but New York’s El-P has hit his creative peak pouring over a global dystopia on his dark, twisted album I’ll Sleep When You’re Dead. Collaborations with Trent ‘Nine Inch Nails’ Reznor, The Mars Volta and Cat Power perhaps indicate where his head is at musically, but lest we forget, there’s a ferocious, cunning linguist at the heart of this music, spraying forth raps like a verbal water canon. He has garnered rave reviews in everything from Observer Music Monthly to Kerrang! in his time and live is a force to be reckoned with.

King Tut’s, Glasgow, Fri 5 Oct.
