It’s rather apparent that the Italian quick-change artist (that’s changing costume quickly, not ripping people off à la Paper Moon) has been doing this gig for a long time. And indeed he has: 20 years or so. His ‘living cartoon’ show runs seamlessly through dozens of paper caricatures of the most famous of the famouses – Michael Jackson, Queen Elizabeth, Justin Bieber – with just enough time for the crowd to figure out who he’s aping before he’s on to the next.

It’s easy to guess what you’re getting into with this type of show – that is, family friendly, with a few sassy moments to make your granddad tut in disapproval – and if you’re looking for an hour of none-too-deep but amusing pop culture fun, then Marchetto has got a Bono impression you need to see. While there’s nothing overly clever about his antics (haha, Adele is fat and therefore likes to eat cake), Marchetto hits every note he’s supposed to with hip-shaking flair (seriously, the man can move).

His is a physical performance that’s more nuanced than the cartoon costumes might let on, with Marchetto managing to pin-down each of his pop-culture victims, with or without flashy folding paper props. A highly practiced, prancing clown, who can do the ‘Single Ladies’ dance: what more do you want?
