Like most of the demonstrators against the war in Iraq, Al Seed felt he was part of something which could affect change. And, like everyone else, was disappointed when that didn’t happen. Fortunately for Seed, as artist-in-residence at Glasgow’s Arches Theatre he found another, more intimate mouthpiece.

Returning to the Fringe after 2004’s award-winning Raw Beef, Seed has turned his anger at the war in Iraq, sadness at the London bombings and despair at the promise of peace never delivered, and turned them dance, physical theatre, comedy hybrid, The Factory.

‘The show came from the sense of powerlessness a lot of people felt having been involved in something so big to which so little notice was paid,’ says Seed. ‘And although The Factory is very dark, it’s quite optimistic - an attempt to keep the debate going rather than becoming totally disillusioned.’ (Kelly Apter)
