Fair Saturday: A celebration of culture and community across Edinburgh
A citywide celebration of art, community and compassion following the frenzy of Black Friday
The day after the shopping frenzy of Black Friday, a very different kind of movement takes centre stage. Fair Saturday is a global celebration of arts, culture and social impact on a day that champions creativity and compassion over consumerism.
Founded in 2014, Fair Saturday has grown into an international phenomenon, with more than 3,000 events held across 150+ cities, featuring 42,000+ artists and welcoming 770,000+ attendees. Every participating event supports a social project or charity, uniting artists, audiences and organisations in the shared belief that culture and values are key to building a better future.
This year, Edinburgh once again joins as an official Fair Saturday Hub, with an inclusive citywide programme that invites everyone to get involved: as performers, creators or audience members. Expect a rich mix of music, theatre, dance, visual arts, storytelling, photography, literature, wellbeing sessions, creative workshops and festive family activities spread across the capital.

Events this year include music from celebrated harpist Dara Dubh and her band (Friday 28 November, Traverse Theatre); an evening of festive family fun at Christmas Night Market At The Pitt (Friday 28 November, The Pitt); craft workshop Winter Wanderland (Saturday 29 November, Wester Hailes Library); traditional tales at Fairy Circle (Saturday 29 November, Scottish Storytelling Centre); interactive art experience Kaizen At Barnton Bunker (Saturday 29 November, Barnton Bunker); a whimsical, trans-led charity night of Campy Ceilidh (Saturday 29 November, Edinburgh Student Housing Co-operative); printmaking workshops at the Winter Print-Fest And Christmas Market (Saturday 29 & Sunday 30 November, Edinburgh Printmakers); and music from 2021’s Rising Star at the Scottish Jazz Awards, Rachel Duns Quintet (Sunday 30 November, Traverse Theatre).
At its heart, Fair Saturday is about connection, celebrating the artists who enrich our lives while giving back to the communities we share.
