A Led Zeppelin fan from Glasgow has shelled out more than £80,000 for two tickets to see the band’s reunion concert next month, after they were auctioned for charity.

Kenneth Donnell will also watch the group’s three remaining members rehearse ahead of the O2 Arena gig, which is a tribute to the late Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun.

He paid £83,000 for the highly sought after tickets - which cost £125 each when they went on sale in October.

The auction was part of the BBC’s Children in Need appeal, which raises cash for disadvantaged young people in the UK.

Radio 2’s Auction of Things That Money Can’t Buy also saw Sir Tom Hunter pay £100,000 for two VIP passes for next year’s British Grand Prix at Silverstone.
