Fresh from a sell-out run at London's King's Head Theatre, F*cking Men examines some of the struggles experienced by gay men searching for personal fulfilment. This contemporary play looks at ten characters, played convincingly by three actors. At the heart of the story are a young gay escort, and a gay couple approaching middle age who have been together for nearly eight years.

It is superb how writer Joe Dipietro involves so many characters – all with their own unique stories – but doesn't allow this to interfere with a strong, clear narrative. Dipietro's play presents a deep study of the three central men when it could easily have descended into a weaker, more general, ensemble piece.

Using surrounding characters as props (including journalists and celebrity actors), these men experiment with their feelings, and one another. At its best, F*cking Men communicates the complexities that slip in the crevices between physical and emotional love. The key couple both have sex with other people – but does that matter when one says 'I hope I die before you, so I don't have to live without you?' to his live-in boyfriend?
