FrightFest Glasgow launches 90 Second Challenge for aspiring horror filmmakers

Can you make a terrifying short film that will scare the crowds at the Glasgow Film Festival?

FrightFest is an integral part of Glasgow Film Festival, taking over the Glasgow Film Theatre for a weekend of the very best in horror cinema and returns in 2018 on Friday 2 and Saturday 3 March. FF has always championed up-and-coming filmmakers and are launching a new initiative to encourage new talent with its 90 Second Challenge.

To get involved you need to create a short film (no longer than 90 seconds) in the horror, sci-fi, thriller or fantasy genre. All films must be shot in Scotland by Scottish residents and must not be currently available online. Submissions are free but must reach FrightFest by Tuesday 13 February. The selected winners will have their short films screened at the Horror Channel FrightFest Glasgow Film Festival event in March and FrightFest's London event in August 2018. For full details and to enter visit www.frightfest.co.uk.

'The FrightFest event at the Glasgow Film Festival is always one of the highlights of the FrightFest cinematic year,' explains FrightFest Co-Director Paul McEvoy. 'For our 2018 event we are thrilled to announce our 90 Second Challenge. We hope to discover new and vivid film talent from Scotland and to give the winning creators significant exposure to our international audience.'

'FrightFest is always a major part of the Glasgow Film Festival and we're delighted to be able to work with them to support the Scottish horror maestros of the future,' added Allison Gardner, Programme Director / GFF Co-Director. 'We're looking forward to seeing what spine-tingling mini-masterpieces our talented local filmmakers come up with and screening them on the big screen at GFT as part of the 2018 festival.'

FrightFest Glasgow, Glasgow Film Theatre, Fri 2 & Sat 3 Mar.
