Glasgay! may not begin in earnest until 14 October, but several exhibitions open this fortnight. In Graffiti Brasil, the country’s spray scene is shown through photographs of works by daredevil pichadores and the internationally renowned Os Gemeos brothers. Hey Hetero is a poster campaign on the Glasgow Underground, cheekily poking fun at the rituals and customs of hetero life. The ‘advertisements’ encourage viewers to consider the scrutiny that non-hetero lifestyles are put under. And Lost in the Forest, Gregor Laird creates an enchanting and dangerous forest world drawn from the Brothers Grimm, childhood and gay life using photography, painting and collage. Neon Nights is a new, weekly Sunday night club launching in Glasgow on 24 September, with resident DJs Madame S (Utter Gutter), ZoinX and the Dirty Mac. Our trio promise something for the disco delinquents, robotic synth kids and electro-pop freaks, with dirty retro sounds, body-popping new wave, indie boy electro and cultier-than-cult classics. Phew! German dance vocalist diva Billie Ray Martin (Electribe 101) headlines the launch night, performing six songs and then assaulting the decks. She’s worked with DJ Hell, and will preview her new single.
