Gilded Balloon announce first Fringe shows for 2024

Gilded Balloon have announced their first shows for this year's Edinburgh Fringe with tickets now on sale. This year marks their first year away from the iconic Teviot Row House since 2001, due to ongoing renovations. Instead, they’ll be setting up base in Chambers Street’s Patter House which will host most of their shows together with an expanded roster of bars over three stories. They’ll also be returning to the National Museum Of Scotland on Lothian Street with a selection of comedy, theatre and magic shows.

Louise Atkinson

Residents of Patter House include returning Fringe institutions Late’n’Live and So You Think You’re Funny? alongside a new comedy show from ‘gobby Northerner’ (her words) Louise Atkinson. Australian comedian John Robertson brings back his hugely popular live-action videogame The Dark Room, while hypnotist Matt Hale returns with a brand-new show. Featured Scottish acts include Glaswegian Kathleen Hughes, presenting her debut hour, and Britain’s Got Talent magician Cameron Young.

Matt Hale

Artistic Directors Karen and Katy Koren said, ‘We’re delighted to reveal the first few shows of this year’s Fringe programme, ahead of what will be another exciting year for Gilded Balloon. As we transfer our full operation into two of our pre-existing venues, it’s a chance to refresh our programme this year. We’re looking forward to bringing a bigger and better operation to Patter House for 2024 including some brilliant programming – from kids shows to international comedy, thrilling theatre and lots of famous faces.’

The Edinburgh Fringe will take place from Wednesday 31 July–Monday 26 August. Find out more about Gilded Balloon on their official site.
