Girls Aloud and Rolling Stones make Guinness World Records

Pop group Girls Aloud and rockers the Rolling Stones have cemented their place in history, winning places in the new Guinness World Records book.

The winners of ITV’s Pop Stars: The Rivals competition, Girls Aloud have notched up the most consecutive top 10 hits in the UK chart by a female group.

They scored 16 hits, knocking Destiny’s Child off the top spot. The US group, which featured singer Beyonce Knowles, held the previous record of 11.

Madonna now holds the record for the highest grossing music tour, beating previous holder Cher, and surpassed Kate Bush for the accolade of the most chart-topping albums by a female artist.

The Rolling Stones also enter the book with the world’s most successful music tour for their recent ‘A Bigger Bang Tour’ - which earned the aging rockers $437 million.

Music aside, comedians Matt Lucas and David Walliams celebrate the inclusion of their series Little Britain, which won the title of best-selling TV comedy series on DVD.

Desperate Housewives also wrestled the record for best-selling TV drama from the clutches of Baywatch.

The latest edition of the Guinness World Records is published on September 28.
