Glasgow Film Theatre introduces year-round CineMasters sessions

Following their success at the Glasgow Film Festival, regular Cinemasters are now available monthly

One of the most popular strands of Glasgow Film Festival will now be available to enjoy year-round at Glasgow Film Theatre.

The CineMasters sessions celebrate the work of the most influential filmmakers from across the world. At Glasgow Film Festival this year, works by François Ozon, Paul Verhoeven, Werner Herzog, Terrence Malick and Lav Diack were explored and honoured.

In March, Martin Scorsese took on the CineMaster mantle, with films like Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore, Hugo, and The King of Comedy being shown and dissected throughout the month. The next strand, which runs in April and May, will focus on movie trailblazer David Lynch, in anticipation – and celebration – of the return of his cult TV hit, Twin Peaks, in May.

Some Lynch masterpieces to look out for include The Elephant Man (Sun 9–Tue 11 Apr), Eraserhead (Fri 14–Sun 16 Apr), Wild at Heart (Sun 23–Tue 25 Apr), and Mulholland Drive (Sun 30 Apr–Tue 2 May).

Programme Manager at Glasgow Film Theatre, Sean Greenhorn, says: 'CineMasters is an important element to Glasgow Film Festival, as we celebrate the work these legendary filmmakers have contributed to the history of cinema, and we are delighted to expand this into our regular, year-round programming.'
