Harriet Kemsley is worried. She frets about whether she can ever fit in, gets uptight about allergies, fears the culture of sexualisation and wonders whether she will ever find true love. On that final point, she had convinced herself that the right guy had finally wandered into her life but when he wound up with a prostitute in Europe, getting robbed and missing his flight back, it seemed that this would be another relationship going nowhere (her partner, Bobby Mair, tells the story from his own perspective in his show and to be fair, they’re pretty much on the same page).

A happy ending (of sorts) is the upshot of a fairly dramatic turn of events and her show has a pay-off that much of the previous hour suggests won’t be coming. This is partly due to a lack of strong material despite the often weighty topics she chooses to tackle. Kemsley is just as happy musing about her bad driving and why ET is a bit weird than doing anything more than tossing out a throwaway comment on porn or natural disasters.

A nervous energy which just falls short of putting her audience on edge gets her through Puppy Fat and with further work on content, a more solid show might be on the horizon.
