Hidden Door Festival has returned to Edinburgh's West Shore Road, running from
Wednesday 15 - Sunday 19 September across two newly transformed spaces around Granton Gasworks. Filling the stages and warehouse spaces are music, dance, visual art, theatre and spoken word performances by emerging and established talent.

On day one of the festival, Esther Swift and the Emergence Ensemble performed in the shadow of the iconic Granton gas holder while Edinburgh singers Callum Easter and Hamish Hawk, along with indie band Pictish Trail, took the North and South stages later in the evening. Inside the nearby warehouse, visual art exhibitions fill the vast space, including works from Josie Ko, Rhona Jack, Jill Martin Boualaxai and a graduate art exhibition celebrating recent graduates from art programmes across the country, many of whom were denied a degree show due to the pandemic.

Later in the week audiences can enjoy musical performances from afro-funk band Ibibio Sound Machine, experimental pop artist Hannah Diamond, SAY Award-winning DJ Auntie Flo and many more. On the theatre line-up, filmmakers and puppeteers Tortoise in a Nutshell present Feral (running Thursday to Sunday in the warehouse) and Edinburgh-based circus and dance troupe Delighters will perform Cirqulation "Obsession" on Saturday 18 September.

Hidden Door is an arts organisation with a purpose; transforming urban spaces into cultural platforms for new and emerging talent to harvest their creativity and give audiences new spaces to experience, explore and discover the arts in all of its many forms. Since its inaugural year in 2014, Hidden Door has brought new life to the old Leith Theatre and State Cinema and cleared out abandoned spaces like Market Street vaults and a Kings' Stable Road courtyard to create new cultural spaces and hubs in which local talent can be nurtured.
