Hidden Door reveals underground venue for tenth birthday weekender
Level B3 car park at St James Quarter in Edinburgh’s city centre will play host to Hidden Door’s birthday shenanigans this May

After revealing its stellar line-up last month, Hidden Door has unveiled its next venue is the Level B3 car park at St James Quarter, a subterranean space ripe for a transformation from the Hidden Door team. This year’s event will take place on Friday 10 and Saturday 11 May and tickets are available now.
Located in Edinburgh’s city centre, the car park will be zhuzhed up by Hidden Door volunteers in collaboration with Edinburgh Tool Library and the Making With Pride initiative, in partnership with LGBT Health & Wellbeing.

The event will mark a decade since Hidden Door, which has become known for rejuvenating spaces into vibrant arts and culture venues, held its first full event at the Market Street vaults. This tin anniversary edition of the festival will be curated by synth-pop duo Maranta, who’ll build unique collaborations around the multisensory live show Microsteria. They’ll be joined by record label Paradise Palms Records and radio station EHFM for a host of DJ sets, alongside work from the visual artists Ursula Cheng, Tiphereth Print Studio, Zoe Gibson, Lewi Quinn, Martin Eldon, James Sinfield, Iain H Williams, Jill M Boualaxai, Bright Side Studios, Oana Stanciu, Sarah Calmus, Silas Parry, Elvey Stedman, Evie Rose Thornton, Miriam Mallalieu, Martin Crawford, Matthew Storstein, and Emma Hislop.

Also on the bill is award-winning sound artist, DJ and producer Auntie Flo; ethereal duo Pillow Lava; live electronics from naafi; glitchy electronics and visuals by Proc Fiskal; the versatile DJ Moray Leisure Centre; and renowned DJ and artist Eclair Fifi.
Hazel Johnson, Festival Director of Hidden Door, said, ‘B3 is unlike any other space that has played host to a Hidden Door event and we can’t wait to reveal its transformation in May. This vast basement car park has plenty of room to play with; we’ll be making the most of the wide open floorplan, whilst creating nooks and crannies amongst the pillars for people to explore the art installations and projections.’
Tickets for Hidden Door are on sale now.
