Immersive experience Mirror XR | Shards Of Memories coming to Adelaide Fringe
Australia's first AI-hosted augmented reality/VR experience invites guests into a magical wonderland

Mirror XR | Shards Of Memories, Australia’s first AI-hosted augmented reality (AR)/virtual reality (VR) ‘storyliving experience’ will debut at this year’s Adelaide Fringe. The mixed-media performance draws inspiration from the Japanese anime scene, and it incorporates a large U-shaped LED screen for a highly immersive experience. Within this space, audience members are invited to meet, talk and interact with Mira.AI, an artificial intelligence host blessed with a ‘charming personality’. The show also combines numerous cutting edge technologies to tell the fictional story of Nora Leaves, a 25-year-old singer/songwriter.
The show journeys back into Nora’s formative years and it tackles issues around self-worth, mental health and resilience. It aims to use its various technologies and artistry to repurpose VR from its traditional use of escaping reality into an ‘explorative mindscape’ platform instead. With 42% of young Australians saying that mental health is their main barrier to success in school and work, elements of Mirror XR | Shards Of Memories will use gaming psychology and various other principals to provoke conversations about emotional well-being among the youth of South Australia.
Led by Christel Cherryadi, AI-XR innovation lead and creative director of Creart Digital Media, the show’s team comprises a board of advisors working with Adelaide Fringe Show, Adelaide Fringe School Programs, the SA Digital Mental Health Awareness Program and the Pay It Forward Campaign.
Mirror XR | Shards of Memories, The Light Room Studio at ILA, Friday 21 February–Sunday 23 March.
