Multiplay's gaming festival to make its Scottish debut in the capital

Insomnia Gaming, Multiplay's UK festival of gaming is coming to Edinburgh.

Insomnia festival events take place regularly across the UK where gamers enjoy LAN halls (where they can take their own PCs and battle one another), and exhibition halls featuring a Minecraft zone (natch) and an indie zone with the opportunity to try out new titles before they release.

Following recent trends, there will also be a retro zone celebrating 8-bit and classic console titles, as well as a retail area and panel talks with special guests and YouTube stars.

For the first time in Scotland, players will be able to participate in Multiplay eSports events for real cash. PC Games in competition include Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, League of Legends, StarCraft II, Hearthstone, Rocket League and Dota 2, while Xbox One and PlayStation 4 players will be able to do battle in FIFA 16 and Street Fighter V respectively.

'We're excited to see Scottish gamers heading to Insomnia Scotland,' said Craig Fletcher, Founder and CEO of Multiplay. 'With every passing Insomnia festival in England we've implemented elements to broaden the activities and entertainment available, so we’re delighted to be bringing the Insomnia experience to a new audience in Scotland.'
