Given his well-documented ability to understand his audience and give them exactly what they want, it’s no surprise that the reaction to Bixon’s third booking of Prosumer, one of Europe’s formative house DJs and producers – this time for an extended-hours set – has been one of sheer joy. ‘His ability to read a crowd and build the vibe is something quite incredible,’ says promoter Jamie Brown.

Making his name as a Panorama Bar resident, Prosumer has always questioned and challenged the accepted definition of house as used by regulars and residents at the Berlin venue (with a sound shaped by New York, Chicago and Detroit, he was also one of the first big European names to start playing UK Funky white labels, for example). It’s one of his main draws, allowing him to truly play to the floor, often going off-piste into unexpected and glorious territories.

Having moved to Edinburgh in 2013, it’s a dancefloor he knows well. ‘The crowds here are a happy bunch – open and friendly, with people feeling comfortable enough to dance with their eyes closed. In a tiny place like Sneaky Pete's, you need to be comfortable around each other – there’s no escape!’ he laughs. After spending most of July in Croatia playing boat and beach parties, he’s fairly certain his set will reflect the summery vibes radiating through his psyche – ‘unless the Edinburgh weather changes my mood … ’
