The Scottish singer-songwriter face The List's questions

First record you ever bought
Heaven or Las Vegas by The Cocteau Twins.

First film you saw that really moved you

Kramer vs Kramer at a drive-in in LA. We were meant to be asleep in the back of the car.

Last lie you told
‘I’ve already done it’.

First movie you ever went on a date to
Back to the Future

Last time you cried
Last night. Jet lag.

First thing you do when you’ve got time off work
Lie in.

Last great meal you cooked
Fish fingers, beans, peas, sweetcorn, and mashed potatoes. I’d been craving it the whole time I was on tour in America.

Last extravagant purchase you made
A stupidly expensive bikini. I’m going on holiday in January.

First crush
Jeff Goldblum.

Last book you read
Lights Out in Wonderland by DBC Pierre.

First great piece of advice you were given
Don’t play in the road.

Last time you were star struck
Meeting Julia Styles.

First thing you’d do if you ran the country
Encourage nationwide donor cards to be carried, and start an electric car revolution.

Last meal on earth - what would it be?
Spaghetti alle Vongole.

First song you’ll sing at karaoke
‘Faith’ by George Michael.

Last time you exploited your position to get something
I tried to upgrade my friend on a plane and totally failed.

First time you realised you were famous
When a white van driver in Shepherd’s Bush shouted ‘A’right KT!’ out his window.

Last time someone criticised your work
Twitter! It’s there every day if I choose to look.

First three words your friends would use to describe you
Loving, fun, touring.

Last time you made an impulse buy and regretted it
I bought a huge big necklace made of chains and can’t play in it as it smashes against the back of the guitar.

First concert you ever attended
The Waterboys.

Last time you bought someone flowers
Uh oh, I can’t remember.

First thing you think of when you wake up in the morning
It differs wildly. The other morning I was thinking about my weird dream of Hogmanay in Edinburgh where I’d been burgled, but the burglars had also made a huge art exhibit of my husband’s childhood in the basement. Very odd.

Last thing you think of before you go to sleep
I have so many thoughts before I sleep, it’s enough to fill a book. A weird, random, sleep-preventing book.

KT Tunstall performs with King Creosote, Kassidy and Silver Columns at the One Day - Resolution Concert, Princes Street Gardens, Edinburgh, 1 Jan.
