Kasabian, The Chemical Brothers, Paolo Nutini and Glasvegas set for RockNess 2011

Line-up also includes DJ Shadow, Frightened Rabbit, Magnetic Man
Rockness, Scotland's fastest growing festival, returns for its sixth outing between 10-12 Jun 2011 with some of the hottest new acts in guitar music on the bill, while simultaneously remaining true to its electronic roots. Recent winner of NME's 'Best Small Festival' award, beating both Latitude and Bestival, a look at the line-up makes it easy to see just what all the fuss is about. Kasabian, The Chemical Brothers, Paolo Nutini, Glasvegas, DJ Shadow, Frightened Rabbit and Magnetic Man are among the highlights of the Rockness 2011 line-up , as announced today.
The event, where Fatboy Slim performed to the relatively intimate festival crowd of just 20,000 in 2006, has rocketed in popularity to become a major player in the UK's festival calendar, picking up a considerable capacity extension and an extra two days along the way.
Set on the banks of The Loch Ness, the festival's location provides idyllic surroundings, if an occasionally uncertain climate. The six on-site arenas range from the dizzy heights of The Main Stage that last year hosted performances by The Strokes, Vampire Weekend and the aforementioned grandfather of the weekend Fatboy Slim, to the more modest surroundings of The Strongbow Tent.
In comparison to some of the giants of the UK festival scene, the layout of the Rockness site is relatively small, giving the event an intimate atmosphere, and without leaving you with dagger-like cramps of the like experienced at bigger festivals come the end of the night.
The leading players in this years line-up include Kasabian, The Chemical Brothers and Paisley's favourite son Paulo Nutini. Continuing something of a tradition at the festival, the organisers endeavour to showcase home-grown talent where possible, with Frightened Rabbit and Glasvegas among those flying the Scottish flag, the latter on the back of new album, Euphoric///Heartbreak\\\ released on April 4th.
As festival organisers far and wide begin to announce their line-ups, they will be doing well to compete with a bill as exciting as the one compiled by the good folks at Clunes Farm, who have once again set festival-goers up for a weekend of some of the best music around.
