Kelvingrove gears up for Kylie costume show
Kylie Minogue’s stage costumes will go on show at the Kelvingrove Museum and Art Gallery on Friday - from the overalls she wore as Charlene in Neighbours to her Kylie Showgirl: Homecoming Tour.
The sartorial show, which tracks the pop star’s changing image over the last 20 years, proved a huge hit when it was staged at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
‘Kylie: The Exhibition’ will comprise of 200 objects, including 60 photographs and 45 costumes.
The decision to house the exhibition was defended by editor of Museums Journal, Sharon Heal, responding to complaints that the Kelvingrove was ‘dumbing down’.
“I saw the Kylie exhibition at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and it was fantastic,” she said.
“There were a lot of V&A virgins, people who would never have dreamt of going through the door in a million years, who went because it was Kylie.”
The free exhibition opens on September 21 until January 13.
