Kings of Leon, Muse and The Verve to headline V Festival

The final major festival of the summer season, V Festival, has announced most of its bill for this year, with Muse, The Verve and Kings of Leon among the big players appearing.

The festival, which takes place on two sites in Chelmsford and Staffordshire over 16 and 17 August, is regarded by festival goers as the most mainstream of the major British outdoors shindigs. So it'll come as no surprise that the likes of Girls Aloud, Amy Winehouse, The Kooks, Sugababes and Duffy are appearing.

The indie contingent is headed up by Maximo Park, Kaiser Chiefs, The Zutons and The Pigeon Detectives, while Ian Brown and Chemical Brothers top the more dance-oriented JJB Arena over the two days.

Others announced include Lenny Kravitz, Stereophonics, The Feeling, Alanis Morissette, The Futureheads, Squeeze, One Republic, The Prodigy, Newton Faulkner, The View, The Hoosiers, Reverend and the Makers, Scouting for Girls, Amy Macdonald, Shed Seven, The Courteeners, The Rifles, The Pogues, The Charlatans, Jamie T, Hot Chip, Travis, The Twang, Sugababes, David Jordan and Robyn.

There are another 60 artists still to be announced across the five stages.

Tickets are available from Friday 7 March at 10am from www.vfestival.com
