Kylie Minogue thanked her fans for their support while she battled breast cancer, as she attended the premiere of her new documentary.

The film, directed by William Baker, goes behind the scenes as she resumes the Showgirl tour which was cancelled halfway through in 2005 due to her illness.

Described as ‘an intimate portrait of Kylie Minogue’, White Diamond was filmed between August 2006 and March 2007.

Discussing the project in London’s Leicester Square, the diminutive singer said: ‘I was convinced, pretty much against my will initially, but then I came round to the idea, it was a good way to show the fans and to thanks them for their support and where all their good wishes went, and how we managed to get the show back on stage… to see the emotion, to see people caring, to see the hard times backstage.’

The 39-year-old said the documentary is the story of her recovery and her return to work.

‘I think through the film you see me get more relaxed and the camera crew being there and more relaxed because I actually managed to get the show back and running,’ she said.

Minogue’s new album - X - will be released on November 26, with the first single 2 Hearts out on November 12.
