Last Word - Manda Rin

First record you ever bought
It was a seven-inch of the Bangles’ ‘Manic Monday’ in RS McColl’s in the Pollok Centre.
Last time you were chatted up
I never feel like I get chatted up, but am always told that I am by friends (and my boyfriend!). I just think people are being nice and friendly.
First film you saw that really moved you
I think when I was younger and saw Grease for the first time, that really moved me. I’m a soppy idiot at times!
First movie you ever went on a date to
Ghost at the Muirend Cinema (sadly now made into flats).
Last time you cried
When Vera died in Coronation Street.
First thing you do when you’ve got time off work
I never get time off work at all as I have my own business (www.weebadgers.com). If I go away, I have to bring my laptop and constantly do emails to send to my staff back home. Friends think I’m nuts for all my constant working. I do enjoy my business, though, so it’s worth it.
Last great meal you cooked
I made a fantastic salmon, boiled potatoes and vegetables the other night. Very healthy, and I was so proud that it tasted amazing. Then, low fat ice-cream with hundreds and thousands sprinkled on top for dessert.
Last extravagant purchase you made
Probably booking a flight to San Francisco for January 2009 to go to MacWorld. It’s always been a dream to see a Steve Jobs’ Apple Keynote, so I’m prepared to camp out over night to get in. Saddo . . .
First crush
Craig Hunter in Primary 5 at Giffnock Primary. I did get a kiss eventually.
Last book you read
Bringing Down the House - Ben Mezrich.
First great piece of advice you were given
Treat others they way you’d like to be treated yourself.
Last time you were star struck
I met the Late of the Pier singer at Rockness Festival and gave him one of my promo CDs. I think they are so amazing that I was pretty speechless.
First thing you’d do if you ran the country
Give women equal rights at work, especially pay, as it’s far from being equal no matter what anyone says. I’d also get proper funding and research into Multiple Sclerosis.
First song you’ll sing at karaoke
Kim Wilde – ‘Kids in America’.
Last time you exploited your position to get something
Being able to get into sold-out gigs. I think the Breeders was the last one.
First time you realised you were famous
When ‘Kandy Pop’ (Bis’ first single) was in the Karaoke booths in Japan.
First three words your friends would use to describe you
Hard-working, dirty (minded) and generous.
Last time you made an impulse buy and regretted it
A Sony Vaio laptop. So cute and tiny, but I soon realised that I’m a Mac girl through and through.
First concert you ever attended
It was the Stock Aitken and Waterman tour at the Edinburgh Playhouse. I must have been only nine or ten. Sonia and Big Fun played . . .
First thing you think of when you wake up in the morning
Every morning I do the Vicky Binns aerobics DVD before a shower, so I wake up dreading that, but do feel amazing once I’ve done it.
Last thing you think of before you go to sleep
What million things I’ve got planned for the following day, and what I should wear.
Manda Rin’s new single ‘DNA’ is available to download from 18 Aug and in the shops from 25 Aug. Her album MY DNA is released on 8 Sep.
