From Hollywood blockbusters to small screen drama, Scotch Whisky deserves an Oscar for its commitment to film. And Johnnie Walker is certainly no stranger to the big screen, appearing in some of the world's biggest movies of the past 60 years.

Johnnie Walker is official whisky partner of the 73rd Edinburgh International Film Festival, and given the whisky's history with film, it's the perfect fit. Did you know Johnnie Walker made its big screen debut back in 1955 in a film called Les Diaboliques, a French psychological thriller about a woman seeking revenge on an unfaithful husband?

Since then, Johnnie Walker's relationship with film has only grown, spanning decades and genre. Featuring in thriller, period dramas, rom-coms and even biographical features the film industry's affinity for Johnnie Walker is clear.

In 2017, Johnnie Walker released a limited-edition bottle to celebrate its appearance in Blade Runner 2049, paying homage to the brand's appearance in the original 1984 cinema classic.

In Guy Ritchie's 2015 remake of The Man from UNCLE, Johnnie Walker Black Label is served to the stylish spies. Fans of period drama The Good German will recognise the iconic square bottle shape underneath the tissue paper that Toby Maguire hands over to George Clooney. Those who didn't can spot the bottle on Clooney's desk throughout the rest of the film.

Blue, Black, Gold and Green Labels have also been sipped on screen by the likes of Angelina Jolie in Mr and Mrs Smith, Liam Neeson in The A-Team Movie and Jack Black in King Kong.

Johnnie Walker continually celebrates creativity in film and entertainment and has recently partnered with the Edinburgh International Film Festival (EIFF) to champion Scottish talent and culture. As official whisky partner, Johnnie Walker will take over Festival HQ, Filmhouse, for the entirety of the festival and is supporting a short filmmaking challenge, Walk With Us, launching in summer 2019.

EIFF will run from Wed 19 Jun until Sun 30 Jun and will feature a number of exciting screenings throughout the Scottish capital.
